Toll remains uncertain - Dated :1/31/01 How many people have perished in the killer earthquake that devastated Gujarat on the Republic Day? Estimates vary from anywhere between 20,000 to one lakh. But nobody seems certain. Rail fares may be hiked: PM - Dated :1/31/01 Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee has said that rail fares could be hiked in the coming Budget if it became very essential to mobilise resources for tackling the situation arising out of the Gujarat earthquake.
